Britain
The wide diversity of the British landscape
and coastline offers a fantastic selection of luxury and activity
holidays, but the weather makes picking your dates a bit of
a lottery. If you don't mind rain, and I know a few people
who actually claim to like it, then a holiday in the UK is
definitely for you. Rain, although not guaranteed, is more
than likely.
If you like walking in mountains, then Scotland
is rich with choice, and if you prefer dramatic coastline
and wonderful stretches of beach plus interesting and diverse
inland countryside to explore, then Wales will certainly tick
all your boxes... And if you desire the experience of surf
and sand with an optimistic hope for sun, then Cornwall is
a place you will enjoy visiting.
But it is probably the British capital, London,
which attracts the most tourists year in year out. Famous
for the historical building and monuments, London is renown
for the glittering choice of West End theatres, museums and
art galleries and, of course, for the ladies, the shops...
I remember visiting London as a child and what a big occasion
it was. Years later I stood guard at Buckingham Palace, The
Tower of London and St. James Palace in the red tunic and
bearskin and it was a very exciting, almost magical place
to be. Now I just find it busy and hectic and the moment I
arrive I want to leave... What happened to change my perspective?
Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast are all great
cities that you need to visit at least once. Each of those
cities offer a unique atmostphere. Cardiff is fast becoming
one of Europe's most exciting cities: Cardiff Bay with its
water-front cafe, restaurant and night club scene shadowed
by the impressive architecture of the Millennium Centre is
bursting with serious buzz during the summer and the City
centre boasts a very impressive spread of shopping centres,
pubs and clubs with the beating heart of the city held comfortably
within the Millennium Stadium where God watches Wales' rugby
stars play the beautiful game beautifully. You have probably
realised by now I am a Cardiff boy! ;) ... And also, of course,
Cardiff now boasts international cricket at the SWALEC Stadium
in Sophia Gardens. A fantastic cricket ground that is yet
another jewel in Cardiff's glittering crown...
